On a Friday evening at Sherman Elks Lodge #2280, the smell of sizzling steak fills the hall, karaoke echoes from the back room, and a table of regulars is already deep into their BINGO cards. This is not a museum piece of civic life. It is a living, breathing gathering place that 124 members and guests have rated 4.3 stars because it actually delivers on what it promises.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has operated lodges like this one for over 150 years, but Lodge 2280 has put its own Sherman, Texas stamp on that tradition. Members show up for the weekly events, yes, but they stay because of the people. Reviewers consistently mention the warmth of the crowd, the friendliness of the staff, and the sense that everyone here is genuinely glad you walked through the door.

Beyond the fun, the lodge channels real energy into the community, supporting local children's programs and charitable causes that make a tangible difference in Grayson County. Joining or visiting is not just an evening out. It is a stake in something that has outlasted trends and will outlast them still.

What We Offer

Friday Night Steaks are the anchor of the weekly calendar: a full plate of steak, baked potato, and salad followed by live karaoke that regularly runs late into the evening. It is the kind of meal and atmosphere that regulars block off on their calendars every week.

BINGO nights draw a devoted crowd of players who come for the game and stay for the company. Sessions are well-run, the hall is welcoming, and the people around you make every visit feel like a reunion. For many members, this is the social highlight of their week.

Beyond the signature events, Lodge 2280 offers a full slate of member benefits through the national Elks organization, private hall rental for events, and active charitable programs that funnel support into Sherman-area schools and youth initiatives. Membership opens the door to reciprocal privileges at Elks lodges across the country, making it as useful on the road as it is at home on FM1417.

"Friendly atmosphere,, people, great karaoke on Friday nights,(with Doc), nicepool tables, plenty of area to play darts. Bartender who knows how to mix any type drink you would want and smoking allowed. Last but not least a nice size dance floor. And they also have spaces for your motor homes, and campers, for reasonable rates. Electricity, water, dump facilities for a small fee. Passing through or staying a while. Welcome for anyone."

"This place is HORRIBLE. We walked in and everybody stared. Then the bar lady ask me...sneering..."What do you want?" My mom sang kareoke...and when she finished, Silence. Total SILENCE till she got to her chair. THEN everyone clapped. At the start, the mic was turned off...she didn't know. She immediately stopped and the man showed her how to turn it on. Everybody in the crowd yelled "Turn it on! Turn it on!" one man in the crowd said "Pick another SONG!" Then when she was thru...silence. Total Silence...till she got to her chair. Then everyone clapped. She sang Poor Poor Pitiful Me. I Hate this place. The people were Awful. The karaoke man was Really nice though."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
